Surprice Italy Rental Terms for travel between 01-Sep-2018 and 31-Dec-2024

The mentioned car types are indicative only. Car model with the same standards will be provided. The renter must hold a valid European or International Driving License, issued at least one year before the rental.

Car will not be provided to renters, without a valid European or International Driving License.

Rates are calculated on the basis of collection/return to the same rental location.

Rental days are calculated on a 24-Hour basis from the vehicle’s pick up time.


There is a period of 2 hours of tolerance at the drop off time. Over two hours of delay the renter will be charged for an additional day’s rate.

Any additional charge for extra services and equipment will be paid locally.

Partially used vouchers are not refundable. No refund will be given in case of no-show, early returns or voluntary down-grades of booked vehicles.

When collecting a car from our car rental supplier the principal driver and any additional drivers will need to provide a valid Passport or ID Card and a full driving license in their name.

Driving licenses issued by the People's Republic of China must be accompanied by a Notarised Translation, instead of an International Driving Licence. An International Driving Licence is required for non-Eu citizens.


The main driver (the person specified on the voucher reservation) must hold a credit card (Visa, Mastercard) issued under his name, to use for the deposit.

The main driver and any other driver authorized to conduct the vehicle object of rental must comply with the formalities of identification and qualification asked by the Lessor.

Each driver engages not to give any false information about his full name, age, address, telephone number, e-mail address and the existence of the law requirements for the enable to drive. 

Age Restrictions

The minimum age for renters in all car categories is 19  years old. 

The maximum renter’s age for all car categories is 75 years old.

The minimum age for renters is 23 for car groups F,F1,G .

From 19 years and till 25  years old drivers must pay an extra fee as "Young Driver": the Young Driver Fee (19-25 years old)  is  € 15,00 per day (VAT 22% included).

From 70 years and till 75 years old drivers must purchase an extra insurance and pay an extra fee as "Senior Driver": the "Senior Driver Fee" (70-75 years old) is € 15,00 per day (VAT 22% included).

There is a maximum of 3 additional drivers allowed per rental. Same conditions apply as per the main driver.


Minimum Rental

Minimum rental is one(1) day. 



All cancellations must be sent at and a confirmation of any canceled bookings will return.

Amendments of already confirmed bookings in less than 1 day prior to arrival are under request.

Conditions Of Payment

A credit card at the main driver’s name  (the person specified on the voucher reservation) is always required. If renter’s credit card is not valid or does not have the sufficient amount for the deposit required, service will not be provided and a charge of two (2) days rental will be applied.


Visa and Mastercard credit cards are accepted. American Express is not accepted.

We do not accept any debit or prepaid card.

Renter must hold his car rental voucher and provide it at the pick-up time.

At the provided credit card will apply all the extra charges.

The deposit is held on the credit card until the car is returned.



Insurance Conditions

Basic Insurance (CDW, TP) is included in the offer: the responsibility of the Customer is limited to the deductible in case of damage and theft established by the Locator.  Excess and Deposit required depending on the car category.

Renter may partially reduce the excess or totally reduce the excess to zero (0) by buying an extra insurance with an extra daily charge (For extra insurance options see table below). Extra insurance allowed are purchasable exclusively at our desk. No other kind of extra insurance will be valid and effective for the purpose of the rental contract.

Even during the purchase of the extra insurance a deposit will still be preauthorized, for uninsured parts on the vehicle, traffic fines or any other charges that may occur during and after the rental period. The amount of the deposit required in case of extra insurance is established by the Locator and change according to the insurance option purchased.

Road assistance 

The service is  free of charge in case of breakdown (non-operative vehicle)  not due to the driver's conduct.

However, if the breakdown (non-operative vehicle) is due to the driver's conduct the road assistance and the technical intervention costs will be charged to the customer.


Change of car in case of breakdown 

The pick-up of the substitute car shall be made at the Catania Airport agency.


If the breakdown is due to the driver's conduct the pick-up costs borne by the customer. In this case (breakdown attributable to the driver's conduct), the potential costs to reach our station and collect the new car are charged by the customer; if  the customer prefers that we provide the substitute car at a different place from our agency station, the service is chargeable and it costs 1€ per kilometer (round-trip).


The free replacement of the car in another place different from the Catania Airport agency is allowed just in case of total breakdown (non-operative vehicle) related to defects/failures of normal maintenance of the car and in any way attributable and due to the driver's conduct.

In case of DAMAGE, THEFT, FIRE and ACCIDENT, the holder of the contract must pay a sum of € 120,00 for the payment of "Opening and management fees of the dossier". The amount is anyway due despite of the insurances bought, the amount of the damage and theft deductibles and the potential active responsibilities related to the event.

The partial or total damage/break of the Block System key/device contemplates the charge of € 50,00 as compensation (VAT 22% included) . 

If the key(s) are lost or damaged customer will be charged by the car rental company for an amount of € 280,00 (VAT 22% included).

Cancellations of any kind, within 24 hours prior to pick up, will be charged with the amount of two (2) days of rental (for example refusal of customer to rent at pick up time, non valid credit card, refusal to hand in deposit, non-valid driving license, renter in influence of alcohol, etc.).

No Show

If the renter will not appear within 2 hours after the confirmed pick up time and does not inform through phone any delay, Surprice Car Rentals has the right to declare No Show and not provide any car in case of show up later. No show customers will be charged with the amount of three (3) days of the total rental.


Territorial Restrictions


Cars can circulate in SICILY ONLY

Transportation outside Sicily is not allowed, will not be provided service in case of breakdown and is not covered by the insurance.

Cross-border rentals are not allowed.

Pick-up and Drop Off have to be done at the same station (Catania Airport Agency).

Condition of Vehicle

Vehicle must be returned, normal wear and tear expected in the same condition as when rented.

In case that the renter is not satisfied with the car, the station needs to be informed immediately in order to provide for its replacement, if necessary.

If the renter does not accept to rent the car even though he knows that cars shown are indicative only and does not accept any alternative either, the customer decides not to follow through his reservation.

If the key(s) are lost or damaged customer will be charged by the car rental company for an amount of € 280,00 (VAT 22% included).

Internal damage will be charged for at the supplier's valet rates. It is the renter’s responsibility to check the vehicle thoroughly at pick-up/collection.

The amount charged for excessive staining and special washing is € 70,00 (VAT 22% included).


FUEL POLICY: FULL/FULL                                                

Unless otherwise indicated on the contract or on the "Vehicle Condition Report", the car has a full tank of fuel and it must be returned with the full tank (the car shall return with the same fuel as rented at the pickup time) : if not, customer  will be charged for the cost of the missing fuel plus the refueling service.

Missing Fuel is calculated according to the Lessor's rates chart. Fuel cost per liter is higher at the rental desk.

Refueling Service Charge € 25,00 (VAT 22% included).

Any unused fuel is not refundable.


Other options & fees

You are responsible for the cost of any parking fines and other penalties incurred whilst the vehicle is contracted to you. The supplier or Surprice Cars will pass the relevant charges on to you plus any administrative expenses.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
