Centauro Portugal Rental Terms for travel between 01-Mar-2016 and 31-Dec-2019
Payment must be made with a valid credit card either Visa or Mastercard.
We accept debit cards if the customer takes the full insurance (Centauro SMART insurance) on collection and leaves a deposit of 300€ which will be charged to the card and then returned at the end of the rental (valid for all car types and locations)
American Express or Diners Club cards or cash are not accepted.
(Due to fluctuations in the rate of exchange and other bank charges, Centauro will not be responsible for any difference between the rate charged and on any refunds made.)
Compulsory insurance (CDW) with excess in all locations.
24hrs/365 day road assistance.
Change of car in case of accident.
Personal Accident Insurance (P.A.I).
Theft Protection (TP) with excess.
Unlimited Mileage (Except Barcelona & Ibiza. Please see conditions below).
Rental period, reservation time & No Shows
All reservations have a maximum of 31 days, in all offices.
Reservation time before pick up: Airports: 1 hour before & Local offices 12 hours before.
In case of “no show” we will only maintain the conditions of the original booking for 24 hours and with prior communication from either yourself or the customer. If there is no previous communication before the pick-up time then a new booking must be made.
There will be no refund for early return or unused days.
All reservations/modifications/cancellations must be sent to our Central Reservation Dept. (except for agencies working via XML)
Baby (0-13months) / Child (13months-3years) / Booster (3-7years): 5.50€ per day, maximum 66€.
Motorway toll transponder device:
1.80€ per day, maximum of 18€. The actual toll costs will be charged to credit card.
Out of hours:
40€ (23:00hrs -07:00hrs) only available at Alicante & Malaga airports and with a valid flight number (out of hours charge applicable). For Malaga there is a charge for both the collection and the drop off.
If a reservation is confirmed with collection before 23:00h and there is a delay, the customer must inform the office concerned, so we can pick the customer up and we will apply the out of hours handling fee. This service will be available until 02:00h in Valencia-Mallorca-Ibiza-Barcelona, and only if there is a valid flight number informed.
Cost between 45€ and 200€ depending on region. Not available on groups G2-G3-H-I-P1.
9€ per day, maximum 90€ and with 100€ deposit.
7€ per day, minimum 21€, maximum 84€.
Snow chains (Only in Barcelona & Madrid):
6€ per day, minimum 18€, maximum 90€ and on request basis.
We have limited mileage in Barcelona & Ibiza only (for reservations made from the 1st December 2015 onwards):
1 to 3 days ?400km per day
4 to 6 days ? 300km per day
7 to 20 days ?150km per day
21 days + ? 100km per day
Excess mileage will be charged at 0.15€ per Km.
Vehicles can only be taken outside of Spain to Portugal/Andorra/France and only from our Mainland offices (not Palma or Ibiza)
Additional obligatory insurance for Portugal/Andorra/France: 9€ per day, minimum 27€, maximum 90€.
Minimum age: 21 years (with a minimum experience of 1 year).
Young drivers: Between the ages of 21 to 24 years (inclusive): 5€ per day, minimum 15€, maximum 70€.
Maximum age: There is no maximum age. All drivers of 75 years and over will have to contract our full insurance (Centauro Smart Insurance).
Please note : All reservations made from the 1st November onwards for pickups from 1st November onwards for drivers aged 75 and over will have to pay an obligatory senior driver supplement. The prices are 5€ per day, minimum 15€, maximum 70€. The senior driver code is “SD”. There is no maximum age and the senior drivers will no longer be obliged to take out our SMART insurance. They now have the option to leave a deposit but the supplement is obligatory whether they take out the insurance or not. All reservations made before the 1st November will have the old conditions applied. ie obliged to take out the Smart insurance.
Petrol policy: full empty with partial refund
Petrol will be charged to the client on collection of the car and will depend on the vehicle size from 75€ to 160€. (Please see table 3).
The vehicle can be returned with the petrol tank as empty as the customer wishes. We will refund any unused full excluding a 25€ logistical and operational charge for all car groups. In case of upgrade the fuel price will be the price of fuel for the vehicle provided.
This applies to all reservations. Petrol charge may change due to variances in the market.
For local deliveries it is essential for you to reconfirm with the reservation department the pick-up date, time & place.
Deliveries only available from downtown offices of Benidorm & Torrevieja.
There is no charge.
ADDITIONAL INSURANCE AND/OR EXCESS
Compulsory insurance (CDW) with an excess is included in the rates in all destinations. Please note that inadequate refueling, traffic fines, loss and damage to the keys are not included in the CDW.
Customers will be offered an additional insurance/ Centauro Smart Insurance to cover damage to the vehicle including windows/undercarriage/wheels, clutch at a rate of 16€ to 20€ per day depending on the car group, with a minimum charge of 48€ to 60€ and a
maximum of 192€ to 240€ depending on the car group.
If not taken, then a 950€ deposit/pre-authorization will be held on the client’s credit card. This will only be charged in the event of any incident/damage to the vehicle on return.
Accident Administration Fee
From Monday 4th December 2017 Centauro will charge an Accident Administration fee of 50€ for any accident that involves an accident report form having to be completed and /or where insurance companies are involved in resolving payment of damages. This accident administration fee will be waivered if the customer has purchased the Centauro SMART COVER.
Inclusions & exclusions of Insurance policies.
All rates include Compulsory Insurance which covers Collision, Theft and accidental fire with an excess from 950€ to 1.500€.
This excess must be guaranteed by either:
1) Taking out additional Centauro SMART Insurance cover. This will eradicate the excess.
2) If the customer decides not to take the additional SMART insurance, then Centauro will block the excess amount of 950€ on the customer’s credit card as a guarantee/deposit to cover any possible damages made to the vehicle. In the event of an accident the customer will be charged the amount for the damages caused, this is decided by Centauro Rent a Car. The maximum amount charged will be the equivalent of the excess.
The Compulsory Insurance will be valid as long as the following conditions are met:
a) The customer, in the event of a collision or damage to the vehicle, provides Centauro the full details of the third party and possible witnesses within 48 hours, as well as a completed accident report form (provided by Centauro in every vehicle) signed by the two drivers involved in an accident and/or a police report. Without this documentation Centauro is entitled to charge the Customer for the full cost of damage to the vehicle.
b) The collision, theft, fire, did not take place during unauthorized use.
What is covered by Centauro SMART Insurance
Punctures or any damage to the tyres or rims.
Damage to the locks.
Damage to the undercarriage of the car.
Misuse of the clutch.
Damage to the windows or windscreen during the hire period.
Theft as a result of forced entry.
Damages to the bodywork up to the excess amount.
What is not covered by any insurance
Damage to a third party or to the hire vehicle due to negligence or inappropriate driving.
Loss of child seats.
Loss or damage to the keys, aerials, jack, safety triangles and vests, windscreen wipers, petrol cap, luggage covers, or any other fixed or mobile component of the vehicle.
Damage to the engine through negligence.
Theft of the vehicle with keys left in the ignition.
Damage caused to the vehicle or to persons through driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Refueling with the wrong type of petrol.
Speeding and parking fines incurred during the hire period are the responsibility of the driver of the vehicle. In the event of a fine being received the amount of 30€ administration fee will be incurred.
Also the insurance does not cover any breach of the terms and conditions of the contract with Centauro Rent a Car.
Terms of booking on this website
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
